Minnesota State University, Mankato Department of Theatre and Dance News Release

MANKATO – Minnesota State University, Mankato’s Department of Theatre & Dance will open the 56th season of Highland Summer Theatre with “The Smell of the Kill.” The production is made possible by a generous sponsorship from TRIO Student Support Services at Minnesota State University, Mankato.

Directed by recent MFA directing graduate Sarah Belfrage Honerman, “The Smell of the Kill” is a quirky, charming and slightly disturbing story that takes place in one evening where three women exchange after-dinner kitchen confidences while their husbands putt around in the next room. We learn that all three marriages are on the brink of disaster, and the women are faced with a life-or-death decision regarding the future of their marriages.

“The Smell of the Kill” runs May 24-27 at 7:30 p.m. in the Andreas Theatre at the Earley Center for Performing Arts at Minnesota State University, Mankato. Tickets are $17 regular price and $15 for seniors ages 65 and older, children under 16 and groups of 15 or more.

Highland Summer Theatre will continue with “The SpongeBob Musical” from June 7-10.

Season tickets are available for both shows through May 27 for only $35.

The Box Office is open 4-6 p.m. weekdays in the lobby of the Performing Arts Center or buy single tickets online at MSUTheatre.com. Call the Box Office at 507-389-6661.
