MANKATO, Minn. – Minnesota State University, Mankato's choral groups will perform in concert Sunday, Oct. 15 at 3 p.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Mankato. Elisabeth Cherland directs the Concert Choir and Chamber Singers.

Cherland says, “The theme of our concert is ‘Better Together.’ The concert program will explore our need for human connection and community.”

Among the pieces the Concert Choir will perform are “Hela Rotan,” an Indonesian folk song that tells about a traditional game of tug of war; “Kahkiyaw Oskâyak,” by Sherryl Sewepagaham; and the well-known Appalachian tune, “Will the Circle be Unbroken,” arranged by J. David Moore.

The Chamber Singers will perform a musical set, including “Alleluia, Laus et Gloria,” by Tarik O'Regan, a song about pure joy and praise, and “Pakaskitawew,” an arrangement of Henry Purcell's “Hear My Prayer, O Lord" by Canadian Andrew Balfour.

Minnesota State Mankato students are admitted free with a valid MavCARD. General admission is $9 and $7 for students (K-12) and children. Those who wish to purchase tickets online should go to hss.mnsu.edu/music-events or call the Performance Series office, (507) 389-5549.
