Oct. 21: Minnesota State Mankato to host more than 20 teams from 8 states in Rockstar Energy Collegiate Esports Invitational

Mankato, Minn. – Minnesota State University, Mankato’s varsity esports team is hosting more than 20 teams in the Rockstar Energy Collegiate Esports Invitational tournament on Saturday, Oct. 21 at 10 a.m. (doors open at 9:30 a.m.) on the second floor of the University’s Centennial Student Union.

Public tickets to the event may be purchased for $10 at the door or in advance online at esports.mnsu.edu/RockstarEnergy. Tickets are $5 for Minnesota State Mankato students. Free event parking is available on Oct. 21 in visitor’s lot 4.

The tournament runs all day. Most events will be held in the Centennial Student Union Ballroom. Some events will be held in CSU 253/4/5.

Free play areas will be set up to provide spectators the opportunity to try playing games for free. Food and beverages are available for purchase on the first floor of Centennial Student Union.

Competitors in the Rockstar Energy Invitational will compete in Call of Duty Modern Warfare II (CoD); Rocket League; and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate (Smash).

More than 20 teams from Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, South Dakota, North Dakota, Michigan, Colorado and Nebraska are registered for the event. This is the second consecutive year that Minnesota State Mankato has hosted the event. Last year’s winners included Minnesota State Mankato (Call of Duty), Michigan Tech University (Rocket League) and Wayne State College (Super Smash Bros. Ultimate).
