Angela Hibbard Buffington, PhD, MA, LP, ABPP-CN  

A native of Iowa, Dr. Buffington holds a PhD in clinical psychology (with neuropsychology and health psychology emphases) from Duke University. After her intern year at the VA Medical Center in Durham, NC, she completed a clinical fellowship in neuropsychology at Johns Hopkins University Medical Center. Her 20-year career has afforded her the privilege of maintaining a thriving clinical neuropsychology practice, teaching neurosciences and behavioral health to medical students and resident physicians, and serving in multiple executive leadership roles in academic medicine.  But most of all, she loves spending time with her four amazing kids. They love to travel, explore, and find new adventures. Dr. Buffington lives with her family on their 16 acres near Saint Peter.

Learning objectives include helping attendees to have increased understanding of the:
  • most common mental health diagnoses and their prevalence rates among aging Americans.
  • physical, cognitive, and behavioral changes that may indicate dementia, and how clinicians can promote early workup, intervention, and even prevention.
  • most efficacious interventions, as well as specific treatment considerations, for improving mental health and promoting healthy aging among older Americans.
