Why I want to be a Maverick Firsts Advocate

While I’m not a first generation college student, connecting with students has always been one of my assets. I love talking to and helping students. As the former Director of Interdisciplinary Studies, I worked with so many different students with a wide range of goals – many who were first generation students, student athletes, transfer students, non-traditional students, and International Students. I love working with student and offering them any guidance I can – I also enjoy just learning more about the students I am teaching or advising.

Other information about me

I have three adult children. I could only convince one of them to go to MSU Mankato – but that’s okay. They are following their own paths. I have the honor of working with many students who attended Mankato East High School with my children – what a joy it is to see them achieve their academic goals here at MSU Mankato!I enjoy being in a book club, being a facilitator for the Greater Mankato Diversity Council, and being a part of the Mankato Area NAACP. I also enjoy running, hiking, Maverick hockey games, a good reality show in my down time!
