Application Deadlines

Application Process

  1. Log in to the Online Application

    Go to the online application, which is part of our secure online database.

    New student? Select 'Create StarID' and follow the instructions.

  2. Personal Information

    • Fill out your name exactly as it appears on your passport.
    • You are not required to put a social security number.
    • For your birthdate, use month/day.
    • Answer the Veteran status and parent education questions to the best of your knowledge.

  3. Citizenship Information

    • Choose "International Visa Holder or Seeker." 
    • Select if you have a U.S. student visa or need to apply.
    • Select your visa type.

  4. Contact Information

    Address:

    • You will be required to provide your permanent address, which is the address you are currently living at. 
    • You may leave local address blank. 
    • You will be required to enter the address from the country that issued your passport. This is needed to generate your F-1 visa documents.

    Phone: 

    • Do not enter a plus sign before your phone number.

  5. Education Information

    Fill in your education information:

    • If you attended high school outside of the United States, choose "non-US" and "other-international."
    • Enter details for any colleges or universities you’ve attended. Leave blank if none.

  6. Confidential Information

    This section is voluntary and you are not required to answer any or all of the questions. 

  7. Program of Study

    • Complete the major section with the term that you want to begin.
    • Select "earn bachelor's degree" for education intent and full-time student (required for F-1 or J-1).
    • For the campus, choose Minnesota State University, Mankato.
    • Select the major you plan to pursue and choose "On Campus" as your delivery method.
      • Your I-20 will list the major(s) from your admission application.
      • Minors are not included on the I-20.
      • Each major is assigned a CIP Code (Classification of Instructional Programs Code), which is predetermined and tied to your field of study. This code cannot be changed by the Kearney Center.

  8. Additional Information

    The Additional Information section is optional — you can skip it unless you choose to provide details.

  9. Review and Submit all Documentation

    Review your application and use promo code "INTLMAV" to waive the application fee. 

Submit Your International Paperwork

An email will be sent to you approximately 24 hours after submitting your e-application with instructions on how to upload your paperwork.

  • Copy of passport ID page
  • English language proficiency scores
  • Transcripts, test results, diplomas and certificates
  • Optional: SAT or ACT scores
