New Department Chair Training Day One

As an introductory learning opportunity, the New Department Chair training aims to develop faculty and staff as leaders in their programs. Department Chairs serve as both leaderships for their department and management of technical department responsibilities. Faculty and staff will be admitted to the program at the beginning of their first term as department/director role. This program will last for one and a half days, to take place shortly after assuming their role as department chair/director.

9:00-9:30 am- Introductions and Grounding

9:30-10:00 am- Chair Roles and Responsibilities

10:00-10:10 am- Break

10:10-11:00 am- Learning to Lead

11:00-11:10 am- Break

11:10 am-12:00 pm- Managing Conflict

12:00-12:30 pm- Lunch Break

12:30- 1:30 pm- Motivating and Managing

1:40-2:30 pm- Building a Better Culture

2:30-2:40 pm- Break

2:40-3:00 pm- Wrap up, Reflection, and Grounding Activity
