1:00PM Maverick Soccer vs University of Sioux Falls

Soccer Pitch, behind lot 1

Come and enjoy a soccer match as the Mavericks take on the Cougars. Current MSU students get in free with their MavCard along with Family Weekend participants.


5:00PM – 11:30PM FREE Cosmic Bowling and Billiards

Maverick Bullpen, lower level of the Centennial Student Union

You can sign up for one hour blocks of game time starting 15 minutes before each hour. For example, at 4:45pm you can sign up to play from 5-6pm. To allow for everyone a chance to enjoy the games, you cannot sign up for consecutive game times.

 6:00PM – 9:00PM Maverick Volleyball vs University of Mary

Taylor Center, Bresnan Arena

Come and cheer on your Maverick Volleyball team as they take on the Marauders. Current MSU students get in free with their MavCard along with Family Weekend participants.

6:00PM – 9:00PM Open Recreation Time

Otto Recreation Center

Head for a great workout, play some basketball, or do many other activities in our campus recreation center. Just sign in at the desk and enjoy your time at the Rec Center! Free access for our Family Weekend Guests. Open Gym, Walking/Jogging Track, Weight Room, Cardio Area and Racquetball Courts. No minors in Weight Room or Cardio Area.

Andreas Observatory

See the universe like you've never seen it before - and learn something new about the expanses of space! Park your vehicle on the south end of Lot 1 (behind the old Gage Towers). You can reach the observatory by a short walk south on the gravel road from lot 1. Weather permitting; check the Family Weekend Schedule online for cancellation updates.

8:30PM Stomper’s Cinema - TBD

Outdoor Ampitheatre on the Mall, outside Centennial Student Union

The friendly-but-forgetful blue tang fish begins a search for her long-lost parents, and everyone learns a few things about the real meaning of family along the way. Concessions are available for purchase at discounted rates. This is your MSU Movie theatre. Family Weekend wristband required for free admission.

9:45AM Family Weekend Stomper Sprint

Fitness Trail: near the MSU softball fields and Lot 1

Calling all kids! Join us for your own Fun Run around our outdoor track! Ages 1 – 4: 100 meter run; Ages 5 – 12: 400 meter run (1 lap). No need to preregister. Meet at the entrance to the track (right next to the start of the 5K) by 9:40. If we have enough kids, we’ll do separate heats for ages 5 – 12.

10:00AM Family Weekend 5k Fun Run/Walk

Fitness Trail: near the MSU softball fields and Lot 1

Join us for a FREE non-competitive 5k fun run/walk on our paved fitness trail by the softball fields and Green Parking Lot 1. T-shirts are provided to the first 200 participants who check in at the 5k registration table on the day of the event starting at 9:15am. A separate pre-registration is required for this event. Day of registrations are accepted starting at 9:30am. A waiver must be signed by all participants the morning of the event in order to participate. Register for the 5k.


10:30AM – 1:30PM  Family Fun Carnival

Enjoy games, caricatures, photo booth, indoor rock wall climbing, inflatables and other great fun for the entire family, brought to you in part by the Residence Hall Association (RHA).

10:30AM Alumni Legacy Brunch

Centennial Student Union Ballroom

The Office of Alumni Relations presents a brunch for students who have family members who are Alumni of Minnesota State University, Mankato. Invitations will be sent to Alumni Legacy Families. If you are an Alumni Legacy Family and have not received an invitation, please contact the Alumni Office at 507-389-1798 or events@mnsu.edu. RSVP is required.

1:30PM-3:00PM Disc Golf

Lot 1

Come play a round on MNSU's newest recreational option, the 9 hole Maverick Disc Golf course! Our very own par 3 disc golf course is open for you to play year-round, dawn till dusk. Meet the Campus Recreation staff at the northwest corner of lot 1 (right field fence of the Women's Softball diamond) to grab a scorecard, map and check out a disc to use. Feel free to bring your own disc golf discs too.


2:00PM-4:00PM Open Swim

Highland Center Pool

Come and enjoy our Outdoor Rock Climing Wall!  The feel and texture of this climbing wall is amazingly realistic, allowing climbers to use natural features and attached handholds to climb unique routes up the wall. Take on the challenge of climbing this 35 foot pinnacle! Park in Lot 1 and take a short walk down the gravel road.  Family Weekend wristband required for free climbing.

4:00PM Maverick Football vs. Northern State

General admission cost is $5 for adults (normally $10) and FREE for youth ages 17 and under (normally $5). Current MSU students get in free with MavCard.

Ballroom, Centennial Student Union

Three shows! 8pm, 9pm, and 10pm. Free tickets are required from mnsuevents.com.

Come on down to play the Price is Right in the Centennial Student Union. Three shows starting at 8:00pm in Ostrander Auditorium. Contestants will be selected from teh crowd to win prizes ranging from Twinkies to a Big Screen TV! To reserve your free seat, visit mnsuevents.com. Seat reservations will begin on August 1, 2017.

Come cheer on the Minnesota Vikings and Maverick Alumnus Adam Thielen as they take on the Tampa Bay Bucaneers for a 12:00PM Kickoff. Catch the game on one of the many TVs in the Maverick Bullpen lounges.Come at any point during the game and stay as long as you would like!
