2015-16 Scholarship Info Coming Next Spring Semester.
One $500 Scholarship. Mrs. Kaufmanis was an enthusiastic, devoted and popular teacher of German and Russian at Mankato State in the 1950's and early 1960's. She is remembered particularly for her successful practice of approaching students standing in line at registration, asking them why they weren't taking a foreign language and signing them up on the spot. Her husband is a well-known astronomer. One scholarship in her honor will be awarded this year to an outstanding student of German. All students in German who will be attending MSU next year, graduate or undergraduate, are encouraged to apply. The possibility of consecutive awards is not precluded. Application forms are due March 20, 2014 and should be turned into the main office (AH227) with an unofficial transcript.

Additional Scholarships and Academic Opportunities
An internship opportunity in Ulm, Germany is the Hans Joohs Cultural Exchange Program through the city of New Ulm, Minnesota in which a number of MSU German majors have been successful participants. Other competitive scholarships are awarded through a number of German and US institutions. It requires advanced planning and organization, which should be assisted through the University Fellowship Coordinator who serves all undergraduate and graduate students at MSU.
