A Night of Maverick Magic for Family Weekend

MANKATO, Minn.— Minnesota State University, Mankato, welcomes families to campus for Family Weekend with A Night of Maverick Magic. This free event will include a comedic illusionist with featured acts by an aerialist and LED hula hoopers Friday, Nov. 1, at 8 p.m. in Bresnan Arena.

The event will feature host and emcee, Pip, an Australian magician, comedian, illusionist, actor and hypnotist. He has made appearances on Australia’s Got Talent and performs in Vegas at the Hard Rock Casino, The Cosmopolitan, The Downtown Grand and the Palms. Educational Entertainment chair Julie Tonsager said, “Pip is not only a fantastic magician but also a hilarious entertainer that will bring laughter and magic to family weekend.”

Throughout the evening aerialist Mimi Ke will also be performing. Ke inevitably fell madly in love with the predetermined path of circus life and graduated from the Professional Training Program at Frequent Flyers Aerial Dance in Boulder, Colo. Also performing during the night are the Amazing Hoopsters, a family of six from Hutchinson, Minn. The Amazing Hoopsters perform spectacular hooping tricks choreographed to an artistic hoop dance performance.

“A Maverick magic show just doesn’t have magic. We want families to be transported from Mankato to Las Vegas throughout the show,” stated Advisor of the Student Events Team Bill Tourville.

After the show families and children can visit with the performers and try the tricks first hand.
