Hmong Culture Day

Hmong Student Association will be hosting their annual event "Hmong Culture Day". The theme this year is "Yav Tom Ntej" which translates to "In The Future". The student organization is hoping to encourage their peers and the future generations to pursue their dreams. There will be student performances, a fashion show showcasing traditional Hmong clothing, and two keynote speakers: Neng Thao and Tou SaiK Lee.

About our keynote speakers:
Neng Thao (Neng Now) is a published artist, author, and scientist. He was born in Chiang Kham Refugee Camp, grew up in Wisconsin, and graduated from Harvard University with his degree in Human Developmental and Regenerative Biology. For the past three years, he has travelled the world full-time engaging his community through storytelling, content creation, and social media videos.

Tou SaiK Lee is a community based Hip Hop artist, storyteller and spoken word poet from St. Paul, MN. He released his first Hmong language Hip Hop album titled "Ntiaj Teb Koom Tes" - "Unified Worldwide" this past summer. Tou SaiK is currently a graduate student in the Master's Program of Southeast Asian Studies at UW Madison with a focus on artistic approaches to support Ethnic Studies curriculum and Indigenous identity.
