Mankato, Minn. – Minnesota State University, Mankato President Edward Inch will welcome faculty back to campus and discuss his vision for the 2022-2023 academic year in his convocation address Monday, Aug. 15 in the Centennial Student Union Ballroom.

A convocation reception for faculty and staff will be held from 8-9 a.m. Monday in the CSU Ballroom lobby. The convocation program begins at 9 a.m. Student Government President Emma Zellmer will speak at 9:25 a.m., and Inch will deliver his address from 9:30-10 a.m.

New Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs David Hood will deliver the provost’s convocation address from 10-10:30 a.m. in the CSU Ballroom.

Aug. 15-22 photo and coverage opportunities:

  • Monday, Aug. 15 – Convocation, 9-10:30 a.m. (President’s address, 9:30-10 a.m.)
  • Thursday-Sunday, Aug. 18-21Move-In. Approximately 2,650 students will move into campus residence communities. Students choose which day they would like to arrive. Move Crew will be back for the first time since 2019 (due to the pandemic) to assist students and families in unpacking their cars. For the third year in a row, some students are also participating in “Drop and Go,” which is an opportunity to drop off large or bulky items prior to move-in.   • Thursday-Sunday, Aug. 18-21 – “Welcome Week” activities. 2022 Welcome Week schedule.
  • Friday, Aug. 19 – A new student rally will be held from 11-11:45 a.m. in Bresnan Arena (in the Taylor Center) followed by a “march through the arch.” A picnic for faculty, staff, alumni and friends will be held from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. near the Alumni Arch.
  • Monday, Aug. 22 – First day of fall classes.
