Overview
Minnesota State Mankato's Athletic Training program prepares professionals to treat physically active patients as part of an integrated health-care team. As one of the oldest and most respected programs in the country, we have taken a leadership role in adopting a master's level program that will allow our graduates to secure the best jobs at higher salaries.

- Course Fees:
- AT 607: liability insurance fee of $12
- AT 671: liability insurance fee of $8

- Human Anatomy with laboratory AND Human Physiology with laboratory

Human Anatomy and Physiology I and II with labs - Structural Kinesiology AND Biomechanics/Pathomechanics (combined or separate courses at the 300+ level). A 200 level or higher physics course may substitute for the biomechanics/Pathomechanics course.

Application Requirements
- A completed ATCAS application
- 3.0 overall undergraduate GPA
- Transcripts from any post-secondary institution from which you earned credit toward your undergraduate degree. This includes courses for college credit that were taken in high school (e.g., Post-secondary education option-PSEO).
- “C” or better in all required prerequisite courses (found above or in the policies section of the academic catalog)
- Personal statement to include how the student became interested in the profession of athletic training and the MSAT program, their career goals, and any previous experiences with athletic training.
- Two letters of recommendation/evaluation: one must be from an academic advisor or faculty member indicating potential for graduate study, and the second should be from an individual who can assess the student’s qualities as a graduate student and/or healthcare professional.
- Current certification in emergency care which includes: Adult & Pediatric CPR, AED, 2nd Rescuer CPR, Airway Obstruction, and Barrier Devices (e.g., pocket mask, bag valve mask) BOC website for a list of acceptable certifications
Additional Requirements for International Applicants
- TOEFL iBT scores sent directly to ATCAS. A minimum score of 80 is required.
- Credential Evaluation prepared by a National Association of Credentials Evaluation Service member
- Visit the Kearney International Center web site for additional services and requirements for international students such as University admission, immigration advising, forms, required health insurance, etc.
Required Documentation Following acceptance to the MSAT program
- Completed immunization and health history form (As a health care provider documentation of the following immunizations are required MMR, Tdap, TB screening (Mantoux), Hep B, varicella (chicken pox), and COVID-19).
- Completed Technical Standards for athletic training document.
- Completed/signed statement of understanding and agreement of Program Policies
- Criminal Background check.
