Alumni Fellowship Opportunities

If you are an alumnus or alumna of Minnesota State Mankato, you are welcome and encouraged to utilize the resources of the Fellowship Office to pursue your professional goals. If you are considering graduate school or seeking independent research opportunities or unique work experiences, email fellowships@mnsu.edu to make an appointment. There are a wide range of awards available for alumni, some of which are listed below.

Awards Funding Graduate/Doctoral Studies

AICPA Accountemps Scholarships:

• Emphasis: Academic
• Must be enrolled full-time in order to be considered
• See individual awards for specific eligibility

American Association of University Women:

• Emphasis: Academic, Research
• Four separate Fellowship or grant options; see document for specific information
• Open to individuals pursuing graduate, postgraduate, and professional programs

American Education Research Association:

• Open to candidates at the dissertation writing stage in their doctoral program and faculty at institutions of higher education

Boren Fellowship:

Coro Fellows Program in Public Affairs:

• Open to college Seniors, recent graduates and those new to the workforce that are curious and ambitious lookin to expand their leadership skills

• Open to students at the graduate level

Ford Foundation Predoctoral Fellowships: 

• Emphasis: Academic
• Open to Pre-Doctoral candidates interested in a career in teaching and research at the college or university level

*Fulbright Grants:

• Open to college graduates and those studying at the graduate level

Gates-Cambridge Scholarship: 

• Emphasis: Academic, International
• Open to students with a Bachelor's degree looking to pursue a master's program; some University of Cambridge programs require a master's or other degrees

Hosei International Fund (HIF) Foreign Scholars Fellowship:

• Emphasis: Research, International
• Open to those enrolled in a doctoral degree or already holding a Doctorate looking to conduct research in one of the following areas: humanities, social or natural sciences, and engineering

James Madison Memorial Fellowship: 

• Emphasis: Academic
• Open to seniors and graduates who desire to teach the American Constitution at the secondary school level

Josephine de Karman Fellowship Trust: 

• Emphasis: Academic
• Open to doctoral students preparing to defend their dissertation around June 2021

Kanders Churchill Scholarship:

• Open to students that have obtained or will obtain a Bachelor's degree

Marshall Scholarship:

National Defense Science and Engineering Graduate Fellowships:

The National GEM Consortium:

National Institutes of Health Graduate Partnership Program:

National Physical Science Consortium Fellowships:

NSF Graduate Research Fellowship Program (GRFP):

Pan Am Flight 103 Legacy Award:

• Open to students that have a Bachelor's degree and/or will be enrolling into a graduate program

Pat Tillman Award:

Paul and Daisy Soros Fellowship for New Americans:

• Open to immigrant applicants and children of immigrants at the senior level or within the first two years of graduate study

• Open to seniors in undergraduate study and those who have obtained a Bachelor's degree

Rotary Peace Fellowship:

Ruth L. Kirchstein National Research Service Awards: 

• Emphasis: Academic
• Open to students at the pre-doctoral and post-doctoral level with interest in fields related to biomedical, behavioral, and health sciences

*Schwarzman Scholars: 

• Emphasis: Academic, Research, Language, Experiential, International
• Open to candidates holding a Bachelor's degree and with an interest in developing understanding of China

Smithsonian Biodiversity Genomics Postdoctoral Fellowship Program:

• Emphasis: Research, International
• Open to doctoral students and those already holding a doctoral degree looking to conduct collaborative research in fields involving comparative genomic approaches such as phylogenomics, population genomics, metagenomics or transcriptomics, and having a component that involves significant bioinformatics analysis

Smithsonian Institution Fellowship Program: 

• Emphasis: Research
• Open to applicants at the graduate, pre-doctoral, or postdoctoral level

Smithsonian Mpala Postdoctoral Fellowship:

• Emphasis: Research, International
• Open to those that hold or will hold a Ph.D. by the start date of the Fellowship interested in conducting research with the Smithsonian and the Mpala Research Centre in Kenya. 

Thermo Fischer Scientific Antibody Scholarship Program: 

• Emphasis: Academic
• Open to undergraduate and graduate level students pursuing a degree in biology, chemistry, bio-chemistry, or related life science fields

*Thomas R. Pickering Graduate Foreign Affairs Fellowship: 

• Emphasis: Academic, Language, Experiential, International
• Open to seniors and college graduates that have not yet begun graduate school

Yenching Academy Scholarship: 

• Emphasis: Academic, Language, International
• Open to applicants holding a Bachelor's degree
• Field of Study must be related to China

Foundation for Scholarly Exchange (Fulbright Taiwan): English Teacher Training & Research Awards:

• Spend a year as an Academic Advisor to Fulbright English Teaching Assistants

Global Health Corps Fellowship:

• Open to applicants under the age of 30 interested in global health care and social justice

The Herbert Scoville Jr. Peace Fellowship:

• Open to candidates with a strong interest in peace and security issues for this 6 to 9 month experience in Washington, DC

Japan English Teaching (JET) Program:

• Open to candidates holding a Bachelor's degree with interest in Japan

Knowles Science Teaching Fellowship: 

• Emphasis: Academic, Experiential
• Open to licensed secondary science and/or math educators that have secured, or can secure, a full-time teaching position at the secondary level

Kroc Fellowship - NPR:

• Open to recent college graduates (undergraduate or graduate level)

Luce Scholars Program:

Manhattan Theatre Club Directing Fellowships:

New York City Urban Fellows Program:
