Services provided vary by individual need and are determined through individual counseling sessions and interest surveys. Students will complete assessments to help define interests, values, abilities and learning styles which help guide college and career decisions. Services in the middle schools include field trips to college campuses and local communities, as well as exploring education and career options through in school activities. Cultural, social and academic activities are designed to foster personal growth and broaden student awareness and appreciation of the world. As students continue toward graduation, services become more focused on career and college exploration, financing college, and the development of skills needed to be successful after graduation.
Career assessments are used to determine interests, abilities, values, and personality characteristics and assist with career decision making. Career exploration is encouraged through guest speakers, job shadowing, career fairs, and processed in conversations with your Educational Advisor.
Through one-on-one and small group time with your Educational Advisor students are encouraged to research colleges and programs that meet their educational needs, career goals and social expectations. ETS helps students and families navigate through all aspects of the college application process, including preparation for college entrance exams, choosing the right school, the application process, finding financial aid and more. College readiness seminars are held to help students refine their study skills, improve test taking and be better prepared for the challenges they face after high school.
ETS also provides fee assistance for ACT tests and College applications.
Educational Advisors assist students in researching financial aid options, completing applications and maximizing their opportunities for aid. Scholarship exploration is encouraged through seminars and internet resources and support is offered from your Educational Advisors. Parent information sessions are held to help families complete the application process.
Evening tutoring will be offered during the school year on the campus of Minnesota State University, Mankato. Times and dates are to be determined. Services may also be offered at your school. Check with your counselor or call our office for more information.
ACT Prep courses are taught in the spring by local teachers. Additional resources, including a full practice exam, are available year round through ETS. Contact your Educational Advisor for a schedule of prep course availability, or to utilize the library of books and online resources.
