The short answer is: Yes. For Minnesota State employees, payroll deduct giving is a great option!

Here are three reasons to give via payroll deduct:

  1. You do not have to remember to make your gift each year. Your payroll deduct giving continues until you chose to make a change. You can increase your giving or change your gift designation at any time.
  2. Your annual gift is divided into 26 manageable payroll deductions each year (based on a 12-month work contract) and is automatically deducted.
  3. Payroll deduct giving is one of the most convenient, cost-effective, and safe ways to support Minnesota State University, Mankato.

Three other popular ways employees and retirees give back to campus are through IRA qualified charitable gifts, Donor Advised Funds, and bequest gifts.

First, it is important to note that Minnesota State University, Mankato is a nonprofit. It increasingly relies on private support to sustain its levels of excellence. Faculty, staff, and retirees play a special role at the heart of this work. Campus Cares Employee Giving gives us the opportunity to bring to light the power of the work faculty and staff do every day and celebrate the tremendous commitment you have to the work Minnesota State University, Mankato is doing by providing personal financial support.

Secondly, faculty and staff financial support represents much more than dollars. Employee participation is also about signaling the critical role faculty and staff members play as the heart of this University. Our Mavericks will have the opportunity to experience the best comprehensive education available because of you and your support.

Our overriding goal is to deepen the culture of philanthropy across campus and build a habit of giving among faculty and staff. Every gift, no matter the size, brings us closer to realizing this vision. Our primary strategy is to increase overall giving participation among all employees, active and retired.

The short answer is: No. We don't take a transaction fee from your gift.

The longer answer is: No, but there is a cost to the Minnesota State Mankato Foundation to process credit card transactions. To help us from incurring these transaction fees, we encourage you to give through payroll deduct. By mitigating a portion of our credit card transaction fees, you are providing more support for our Mavericks.

The short answer is: Yes.

The longer answer is: Over the past few years, it has become increasingly evident how deeply our campus employees care. We care about one another, our students, and the greater Maverick community. To better embrace and reflect the depth of care across our campus we are expanding the employee giving initiative to ensure every gift you give is acknowledged and revered. Supporting our community is not a once-a-year effort, but something that is important all year and appreciated every day.
