Transfer Student Scholarships

Transfer students enrolling for the fall term may be eligible for academic scholarships and other financial assistance. Scholarship eligibility, requirements and deadlines vary by program.

Transfer Student Maverick Scholarship

Transfer Student Maverick Scholarships are awarded to select students after admission to MSU and are renewable for one year.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Minimum 3.0 cumulative transfer GPA
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident

Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship

Two $500 scholarships are available to eligible transfer students for one year.

Eligibility Requirements: 

  • Must be a member of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society at a two-year college
  • Must meet transfer scholarship eligibility requirements

Scholarship Application Dates:

  • Applications open May 1
  • Application deadline June 1

Workforce Development Scholarship

Previous Workforce Development Scholarship recipients from a Minnesota State community college may be eligible for an additional year of funding when transferring to Minnesota State University, Mankato.

Award:

  • $2,500 for one additional year

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Previously received a Workforce Development Scholarship from a Minnesota State college (students must provide proof)
  • Graduated from the college with a two-year associate degree
  • Transferred into a corresponding bachelor's degree program at Minnesota State Mankato
  • Enrolled in an eligible workforce development program
  • Enrolled in at least 9 credits per term
  • Maintain at least a 2.0 GPA
  • Minnesota resident
  • Financial need is preferred but not required

  • Health Care
  • Early Childhood Education
  • Information Technology
  • Transportation
  • Advanced Manufacturing
  • Agriculture

In-State Tuition

Eligible non-Minnesota residents may qualify for Minnesota resident tuition rates. This does not apply to students from North Dakota or Wisconsin covered by reciprocity or to programs that charge the same tuition rate regardless of residency.

Transfer Student In-State Tuition

You automatically qualify for in-state tuition if you:

  • Transfer 24 or more college-level, transferable credits
  • Have a cumulative transfer GPA of 3.5 or higher

Legacy In-State Tuition

Students may also qualify for in-state tuition if one or both parents graduated from Minnesota State University, Mankato.

Minnesota State Mankato offers athletic scholarships through NCAA Division II programs and Division I for Men's and Women's Hockey.
