Overview
The Master of Arts in Urban Management and Community Planning (UMAP) provides theoretical and hands-on to students seeking creative, community-shaping careers in local government and consulting services. Students are connected to the profession through internships and a Studio, giving them a chance to apply the theoretical and technical skills they learn in the classroom.

- URSI's focus is on training for local government management and planning at a local and regional level
- Instead of a thesis, the student capstone experience is a Studio, working as a team to complete a project for a local government or related organization

Application Requirements
- A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
- Applicants should, at the very least, have earned a 3.0 GPA on a scale of 4.0 in their earned bachelor’s degree in the two (2) most recent years of their education.
- Undergraduate course in research methods/statistics, or equivalent.
- A personal statement describing your academic and work background, your reason for selecting graduate study in this program, and the particular interests and skills you would bring to this program (especially technological skills such as computer programs with which you are familiar – GIS, web pages, etc.).
- Two letters of recommendation addressing your preparation for graduate study.
- Resume or C.V.
Additional Requirements for International Applicants
- Minimum TOEFL iBT score of 79 or a minimum IELTS score of 6.5
- Credential Evaluation prepared by a National Association of Credentials Evaluation Service member.
