Electric Work Horses New Addition to Campus

MANKATO, MN – Just in time for Earth Day, Minnesota State Mankato announced the acquisition of two experimental battery driven work vehicles, thanks to a partnership with e-ride Industries, the Minnesota Department of Commerce, and the University. 

“We’ve got two units, one for lab work so students can retrofit it to better ensure an extended battery charge, with the other committed to Facilities Management so they can use it around campus,” said Bruce Jones, Chairman of the Automotive & Manufacturing Engineering Technology (AMET) Department.

Building Services

DougThe department provides routine housekeeping services 24 hours a day Monday through Friday (except legal holidays), 7:30 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. on Saturdays, and 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Sundays. Additional duties include: keeps academic and residential buildings clean; removes refuse from buildings; provides consultations, preparation, and cleanup for special events; replaces light bulbs in conjunction with physical plant staff; controls insects; provides emergency cleanup; collects for recycling service for academic buildings.

 



Environmental Health, Safety & Risk Mgmt.Rob

Employee safety and regulatory training, emergency response planning, environmental hazardous waste, asbestos abatement management, indoor air quality ergonomics, University Safety Committee

Chair, industrial hygiene monitoring, OSHA, EPA, federal and state regulatory compliance and risk management concerns are handled within this office.

 


Facilities Management

Managers
Central office provides oversight, coordination and administrative direction for all departments within Facilities Management. Facilities Management is part of the division of Finance and Administration.

 

 



Facilities Services

Workers
Hours are 7:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m M-F. Services include general supervision and oversight of the following departments: Vehicle Operations, Facilities Purchasing, Postal Services, Office Support Services, University Stores and Materials Management, and Receiving and Delivery Services. Additional responsibilities include: website and budget work for Facilities Management; campus-wide parking administration (not enforcement); transportation including leased campus buses, Maverick Shuttle, Red Eye Shuttles; bookstore contract compliance; traffic control; office supply contract administration; and hallway lockers.

 


Physical Plant Physical Plant


Areas covered include building repairs, heating and cooling plant engineering, energy management, HVAC services, electrical and electronic services, mechanical/electrical engineering, grounds maintenance and snow removal.

Student Union
This office manages architect/engineering projects, capital improvements, construction facilities and site planning, repair and renovation services, and building and external and internal signage.
