What is a StarID - How do I create one?

In order to register for courses, you will need to create a StarID.

A StarID is a username that replaces many login IDs with one ID and one password. Once you activate it, you can use your StarID and password anywhere that accepts StarID. Instead of a separate login at each college or university, you can use the same StarID across all Minnesota State system campuses.

Once you create a StarID, you will be able to register for courses as a "Non-Degree Seeking Student."

Create your StarID

Minnesota State Mankato welcomes all eligible students to take summer courses as non-degree seeking students.

  • Apply for admission by creating your StarID as a "Non-Degree Seeking Student."
  • Select “Complete courses, but not a degree” when asked about your educational intent.
  • The Star ID and password you create when applying for admission are the credentials you will use to register for classes; take a screenshot of them and save it!
  • After we process your application, you will receive an email notification. Once you have been admitted, you can Register with your StarID.
