Type of Funding

Documentation Requirements

For all types of funding

  • Must be clearly DATED and be less than 6 months old
  • Must be translated into English (if originally in a language other than English)
  • Must be liquid assets that are immediately accessible
  • Credit cards, life insurance, crypto-currencies, retirement and/or pension funds are NOT accepted
Sponsor Funding
  • Bank statements must be accompanied by a Financial Letter of Support. Use this template.
  • Bank statements must display your sponsor's name as the financial account holder (see full criteria)
  • Financial Letter of Support must be included within the e-form.
  • If sponsor is a BUSINESS, the Financial Letter of Support must be printed on the business’ letterhead AND the business name must match the business name on the bank statement.
  • If sponsor is using an EDUCATIONAL LOAN, the loan approval letter must meet all the statement criteria AND include the sponsor’s and student’s name.
Personal Funding
  • Bank statements must display your name as the financial account holder (see full criteria)
  • If you are using an EDUCATIONAL LOAN, the loan approval letter must meet all the statement criteria AND include your name.

Government or Sponsoring Agency

  • Must display the name of your sponsoring agency
  • Must show that the awarded funds will be available in your first year
  • Must show the award funding amount
  • Must show that the funds were awarded to you
University Funding
  • Must display the name of the MNSU department
  • Must show that the awarded funds will be available in your first year
  • Must show that the funds were awarded to you
  • Should indicate type of support, such as:
    • Number of Credits Waived
    • Stipend

Bank/Financial Statement Criteria

  • Must be printed on bank letterhead and display the bank’s full name and address
  • Must be signed or stamped by the financial institution
  • Must include type of currency, and when possible, the currency conversion
  • Must show an account balance in the amount of funding that you have indicated or more
  • Must include the type of account (e.g. savings, checking, time deposit)
  • Must be dated within the last 6 months
  • Must be less than 2 pages long
