Royalty Requirements

  • Candidates must have completed a minimum of 30 credits at Minnesota State University, Mankato.
  • Candidates must have at least a 3.00 cumulative GPA and be in good standing with the University.
  • Candidates must be currently enrolled in at least six (6) credit hours at Minnesota State University, Mankato.
  • All candidates must fully complete the Royalty Application and turn it in by Friday, September 22, by 11:59pm.
  • To verify the candidate’s GPA with the Registrar’s office, all candidates agree in the Maverick Royalty Application that the Student Events Team has permission to communicate with the Register’s Office about their GPA.
  • All Royalty Court members must attend both the Homecoming Kickoff and Lip-Sync.
  • All Royalty Court members must attend an informational meeting on TBD. If a candidate cannot attend this meeting, the Homecoming Chair or the Student Events Team advisor must excuse them in advance. This meeting will cover the duties of the Maverick Royalty.

Rules for Royalty Campaigns

  • No chalking of the buildings is allowed. To sidewalk chalk you must confirm with the scheduling office located in 220 Centennial Student Union.
  • Defacing, covering, or taking down other candidates’ posters/flyers will result in disqualification.
  • Posters/flyers hung in academic buildings or residence halls must follow guidelines set by Building Services. Please read the Residence Hall posting policy in the next section before hanging flyers in the halls. Candidates will be disqualified for hanging materials in improper spaces.
  • The exchange of a vote toward any specific candidate for any good, material, or service is prohibited. Bribery will not be tolerated.
  • The Student Events Team and Homecoming Committee will not be held responsible for any of the rules (as stated by Building Services, Residence Halls, and the CSU) that are violated by any team participating in Homecoming.
  • Any costs related to damages are the sole responsibility of the sponsoring team.
  • The Student Events Team will provide candidates with posters, sashes, crowns, and/or tiaras.

ALLOWABLE campaign postings in the Centennial Student Union include

  • Postings on brick/ceramic walls or painted walls/pillars
  • Banners in existing designated spaces – Reserve space through University Scheduling and Conference Services (CSU219)
  • Large posters (maximum 21-inches wide by 27 inches tall) in existing designated spaces; reserve poster stands and sites through University Scheduling and Conference Services (CSU219).
    • No A-frame/sandwich boards are permitted in the Centennial Student Union.
  • Tables/tabling in existing designated spaces – Reserve through University Scheduling and Conference Services (CSU219)
  • Posters should be at least three (3) feet away from one another.
  • Postings in academic buildings are limited to general use bulletin boards (using tacks, push pins, or staples), brick/ceramic walls, painted walls.

  • Any postings on any walls, in any buildings, must be done using only blue “painter’s” tape.

UNAPPROVED campaign postings within the Centennial Student Union and academic buildings include (violating campaign materials will be removed and recycled)

  • Postings not using blue “painter’s” tape. ABSOLUTELY NO duct tape, transparent tape, packing tape or other adhesive or sticky tacks will be allowed.
  • ABSOLUTELY NO PRINTED “LEAVE BEHIND” MATERIALS including flyers, business cards, postcards, etc., can be placed anywhere in and around the Centennial Student Union. Such materials will be collected and recycled.
  • Postings on glass windows or entrances
  • Postings on wood surfaces
  • Postings on steps, floors and ceilings
  • Postings on elevator doors or in elevator cabs
  • Postings in restrooms
  • Postings on office doors
  • Postings on vending machines
  • Postings on any art or statue
  • Postings in areas specifically identified as off-limits by authorized staff (such designation must be made by authorized staff three weeks prior to election)
  • Postings to the exterior surface of the Centennial Student Union
  • Postings using A-frame/sandwich boards (such display units are not permitted in the Centennial Student Union)
  • Use of any unapproved sound amplification equipment or devices.

Unauthorized removal or defacing of property that has been approved and posted is an act of vandalism and subject to appropriate disciplinary action.
