Spring Break

Residence communities close at 7 p.m. on Friday, March 1.

Students may register to stay over the break period for no additional cost.

Registration

Residents who wish to stay in their room during spring break (March 1-9) need to register in advance. Registration will open on Monday, February 12 at 9 a.m. in the Housing & Dining Portal.

Residents who do not register and are found in the residence communities during the break period will be charged $50 and may be escorted off campus if disruptive.


Dining Services

Food service ends at 6 p.m. on Friday, March 1 and resumes at 4 p.m. on Sunday, March 10. Meals are not provided during the break period, however, residents may use Dining Dollars, cash, credit/debit at retail dining locations. The retail schedule is posted below.

Dining Schedule March 3-9

University Dining Center
  • Closes at 6 p.m. on Friday, March 1. Reopens at 4 p.m. on Sunday, March 10.
Chet's Place (Carkoski Commons)
  • Closes at 4 p.m. on Friday, March 1. Reopens at 7 p.m. on Sunday, March 10.
1872 Grill (Julia Sears)
  • Closes at 4 p.m. on Friday, March 1. Reopens at 7 p.m. on Sunday, March 10.

Parking

Only registered residents are allowed to park their vehicles on campus during the break period. If you are leaving for break, you must take your vehicle with you. In the event of a snow emergency, you are responsible for moving your vehicle in accordance to parking guidelines.

Crawford/McElroy/Preska/Julia Sears Residents:
  • Park in Lot 14 or 16 green stalls
Stadium Heights Residents:
  • Park in front of your building.

Facility Inspections

Main campus rooms (Crawford, McElroy, Julia Sears, and Preska) will be inspected by Residential Life Staff after the residence communities close on Friday, March 1.

Stadium Heights units will be inspected beginning at 9 a.m. on Monday, March 4.


Mail & Packages

Mail will be delivered Monday-Friday to registered residents' mailboxes (Stadium Heights will continue to receive mail per the USPS schedule).

Packages can be picked up 4:30-6:30 p.m. daily (when Front Desks are open).


Before You Leave

Residents are not required to unplug electrical items prior to leaving.

Do these things prior to leaving for break:

  • Close and lock your window.
  • Remove all trash from your room.
  • Return used to-go containers to the University Dining Center.
  • Close your blinds if you live on the 1st floor.
  • Turn off electronics.
  • Turn off lights.
  • Take home policy violations.
  • Close your door and make sure the lock secures.
