Who do I contact if I have questions about a conduct hold on my student account?

You may contact Antonia Yenser via email, phone: 507-389-5689, or stop at the Health Education Office, 100 Carkoski Commons, to inquire about a conduct hold on your student account.

Who do I contact if I cannot complete my sanction by the assigned deadline?

Contact your referral staff person by email, phone, or in person for questions regarding your assigned deadline. Your referral staff is the person's name on your outcome letter, which was sent to your mnsu.edu email account. Your referral staff will be from either Residential Life or Student Conduct.
Health Education staff do not have the ability to extend your deadline. Only your referral person can extend your sanction deadline.

Who do I contact if I do not know when my deadline is?

Refer to your outcome letter which would have been emailed to your mnsu.edu email or contact your referral staff person for questions regarding your assigned deadline.
Health Education staff may not have your deadline information, so please contact your referral person for deadline information.

What happens if I do not complete my assigned sanction?

Failure to complete a sanction by the assigned deadline will result in a conduct hold placed on registration and future enrollment.
The hold will not be taken off until you complete all parts of your assigned sanction.
A hold on your account means you will NOT be able to register for classes, drop classes or receive your transcripts.

What will you tell the referral staff about my sanction?

Your referral staff person will only be notified of your completion or failure to complete. No other information will be relayed to this person.

Will my parents be informed I had to take an alcohol and/or drug-sanction education class?

The Office of Student Conduct, Residential Life staff, and Student Health Services staff does not initiate contact with parents regarding a student’s involvement in alcohol or drugs.
- A parent disclosure form (Alcohol and Drug Disclosure Release of Information Form), not to be confused with a parent notification form, is available for students to sign. Parents and students are told about the Alcohol and Drug Release of Information Form at Orientation.
- The Alcohol and Drug Disclosure Release of Information Form is available in the Office of Student Conduct, Residential Life, and Student Health Services.
  - The Alcohol and Drug Disclosure Release of Information Form is a disclosure of records form intended to allow parents or other designated parties to access information from the conduct file related only to alcohol and other drug violations in accordance with the Minnesota Government Data Practices Act.
  - With a student’s signature on an Alcohol and Drug Disclosure Release of Information Form parents or other designated parties can communicate with the Director of Student Conduct and Associate Director of Residential Life regarding the student conduct file related only to Alcohol and Other drug violations.

What can you tell my parents if they ask questions regarding alcohol and/or drug-sanction education classes?

If a parent contacts the Office of Student Conduct or Residential Life unless an Alcohol and Drug Disclosure Release of Information Form is signed by the student no information will be relayed to parents.
If a parent contacts the Student Health Services office unless an SHS Authorization for Disclosure of Health Information form is signed by the student no information will be relayed to parents.
However, if a parent contacts Student Health Services inquiring why there is an $85 Health Education Fee on their student's account, public information may be shared that typically an $85 Health Education Fee charged to a student account is the result of being required to complete an alcohol and/or drug education sanction program.

Will my alcohol and/or drug-sanction information be on my background check?

Potential employers must first obtain a written release of information from the student. Upon receipt of the release of information, the Office of Student Affairs will disclose the information requested on the release form.
- That typically includes a date and description of an incident, the sanctions assigned, and whether or not the student completed the sanction in a timely manner.
- Common parties who may request a background check may be but are not limited to future employers, transfer institutions, graduate schools, licensing boards, the military, and rental managers deciding whether or not to lease to a student.

Where do I sign up for the CHOICES workshop?
- You can register for the CHOICES workshop here. If you need further assistance call Health Education at 507-389-5689.
If I am registered for CHOICES workshop and I get sick or an emergency comes up and I cannot attend the workshop what happens next?
- Click here and you will be directed to the CHOICES page. You can register for another workshop or contact Health Education, 507-389-5689, to reschedule.
- If your deadline for completion has passed, a conduct hold will be placed on your student account. A hold on your account means you will NOT be able to register for classes, drop classes or receive your transcripts.
If I am registered for a CHOICES workshop and I do not show up, will my student account be charged twice when I register for another workshop?
- No, you will only be charged one program fee.
How much is the CHOICES sanction?
- The CHOICES program fee is $135 and will be charged to your student account.
How can I pay for CHOICES?
- Log onto your E-services account and pay online.
- Pay at the Cashiers Office, 128 Wigley Administration Center.
- Failure to pay a program fee will result in a Student Financial Services hold placed on your student account. A hold on your account means you will NOT be able to register for classes, drop classes or receive your transcripts.
- It is the expectation of the University that sanction program fees be paid within 30 days.

How long will it take to complete UNDER THE INFLUENCE?
- Under The Influence is a nine-lesson online course that can be completed in about three hours. You can log in and out of the course as needed.

- Internet Explorer - It could be a browser setting rather than a virus protection software setting that is preventing the use of cookies. Try looking for settings on your browser to "Allow Cookies"
  - If you are using Microsoft Internet Explorer, go to "Tools" on the top menu bar.
  - From "Tools" choose "Internet Options."
  - From "Internet Options" choose "Privacy" tab.

I completed Alcohol-Wise or D2L Alcohol 101, the preventive program, and now have been sanctioned to complete UNDER THE INFLUENCE - How can I do that?
- Students who have completed Alcohol-Wise or Alcohol 101 and now have been sanctioned:
- Go to 3rd Millennium Classrooms website, go to left side of the screen under "Student Login", type in your email address and click "Forgot Password." Once a new password has been emailed to you, login on the 3rd Millennium Classrooms website. On the bottom of the screen there is a link titled "enroll in new course", click there and enroll in UNDER THE INFLUENCE.

How long will it take to complete MARIJUANA 101?
- MARIJUANA 101 is a six-lesson online course that can be completed in about three hours. You can log in and out of the course as needed.

- Students who have completed Alcohol-Wise or Alcohol 101 and now have been sanctioned:
- Go to 3rd Millennium Classrooms website, go to left side of the screen under "Student Login", type in your email address and click "Forgot Password." How long will it take to complete D2L Alcohol and Drug Education Program?
- The D2L online course can be completed in about one hour. You can log in and out of the D2L course as needed.
How much is the D2L Alcohol and Drug Education Program sanction?
- The program fee for D2L Alcohol and Drug Education Program is $45 and will be charged to your student account.

FAQs for Chemical Use Interviews

How long will it take to complete a Chemical Use Interview?
- The Chemical Use Interview will take about two hours to complete.
- Once the interview is completed, a summary will be written up and shared with the student during a follow-up meeting which usually lasts about one hour.
How much is the Chemical Use Interview sanction?
- The program fee for a Chemical Use Interview is $210 and will be charged to your student account.
How can I pay for the Chemical Use Interview?
- Log onto your E-services account and pay online.
- Pay at the Cashiers Office, 128 Wigley Administration Center.
