What is MavPRINT?

MavPRINT is a printing service available to all currently-enrolled students at Minnesota State University, Mankato. MavPRINT provides students use of over 50 printers at various locations on campus as well as resident halls. You can now print to MavPRINT from any mobile devices (such as tablets and smartphones) as long as the electronic documents (Microsoft Office files, images, PDFs, and the like) can be set as an e-mail attachment to MavPRINT.

As part of the Student Technology Fees, every currently-enrolled student is provided $15.00 (300 complementary black and white pages) each semester for printing purposes (up to 900 complementary pages per year). Students can continue to print beyond the complementary number of pages at 5 cents per page by adding money to MavCASH. Learn how to add to your MavCASH account. Color printing is also available at 45 cents per page. By default, MavPRINT prints on both sides of the paper.

How does MavPRINT work?

MavPRINT works similar to an ATM: when you deposit (upload) a document from your computer, laptop or a mobile device to the system, you can go to any available MavPRINT printer to print it. If a printer is busy or out of service, you can simply find another available MavPRINT printer, log into the release station and print your job. Your print jobs will remain ready to be printed for four hours.

Below are detailed instructions for the brand new MavPRINT Mobile (web-based printing from desktop and laptop computers, as well as mobile printing from smartphones and tablets) and for the old-fashioned desktop MavPRINT.

Useful Links and Information

Last year, students printed nearly 4 million pages. Stacked up, that would be 10 times taller than the Gage towers used to be! To "Go Green" and save paper, MavPRINT prints on both sides of the sheet of paper by default.

Mobile printing from Android or iOS devices - syncing your email to work with MavPRINT

In order to print from mobile devices, such as smartphones or tablets, an e-mail containing the files you wish to print needs to be sent to MavPRINT. If you use your mnsu.edu e-mail account on your smart phone or tablet, no additional setup needs to be made. If you use other e-mail accounts, such as Gmail, Yahoo or Hotmail, you need to synchronize them with your MavPRINT to grant them access to the system.

MavPRINT Statistics

MavPRINT statistics help us forecast usage, prevent bottlenecks and find ways to control waste. We will also be able to tell how each printer is utilized so printers can be moved to locations where students might need them more. We can also rotate printers to provide uniform use and wear.

MavPRINT uses the same print management system, Pharos Uniprint, as hundreds of colleges and universities across the U.S. It is one of the best systems available for academic use.
