Residence Hall Internet Access

Wired/In-Room Internet

Residents in all communities are able to access the Minnesota State Mankato computer systems and the Internet from outlets in their room. To get connected to the wired network in your room, you will need a computer with an Ethernet adapter or card and a Cat 5e network patch cable. There is no additional change to use this system.

Network Setup Guide

Minimum requirements for computers using a Windows operating system:
Pentium III
128 MB RAM
Windows 2000
10/100 Base-T Ethernet adapter (NIC)

Minimum requirements for computers using MacIntosh operating system:
128 MB RAM
Mac OS X
10/100 Base-T Ethernet adapter (NIC)

Wireless Internet

Wireless Internet access is available in the public areas of the Minnesota State Mankato Residence Halls including floor study lounges, laundry rooms, dining halls and complex lobbies.

To access the Internet through a wireless connection in the public areas of the residence communities and in student rooms, you computer will also need a wireless network card or adapter.

To activate your account, follow the instructions in the Welcome Packet found in your living unit when you moved in. This information is also available at the front desk of your community.
